Serbian Orthodox church of Sts. Cyril and Methodius

Serbian Orthodox church of Sts. Cyril and Methodius was completed in the year 1936 by the architect Momir Korunović.

Serbian Orthodox Church in Ljubljana was established in 1921 and the ground foundation was blessed by the Patriarch Varnava of Serbia in 1932. The church was blessed also on 23. October 2005 by the Patriarch Pavle of Serbia at the presence of the president Janez Drnovšek and Ljubljanas catholics metropolite Alojz Uran. This is also the date of official opening of the church. At the blessing they have placed the relics of Saint Atanasy, which were brought from Vatican by Tomáš Špidlík and symbolised the integration of one christian unity (orthodox and catholic). Godfather of the church became the basketball player Radoslav Nesterović. In the year 2009 the church visited the Serbian president Boris Tadić. The city council of Ljubljana has given church the status of a cultural monument on 29. march 2010.
